Socialism was started as a system to protect the laborer from the economic mechanisms of capitalism. Although it does not allow for citizens to reach the economic heights that they can here in the United States, it also is set up to guarantee that the citizens have certain services available to them at all times.ConsumerismAs you have learned in this section, there are several differences between socialist and capitalist economies. Among the most significant of these differences is the high level of consumerism that exists in capitalist countries. Americans, for example, spend 3 to 4 percent more of their time shopping than Europeans. This consumerism in the United States dates back several decades, when it reached new heights in the mid-twentieth century. The trend even received something of an official sanction in 1953 when Arthur Burns, the Chairman of the Economic Advisors Council under President Eisenhower, said that the American economy’s ultimate purpose is to produce more consumer goods.Consumerism received a further boost from advertisements on television, a new medium that exploded in popularity in the 1950s. In the decades that followed, television commercials, radio spots, magazines, newspapers, and, in recent years, the Internet bombarded consumers with advertisements for an endless array of products. The average American views 3,000 ads in a single day. These advertisements have proven highly effective at creating a desire among the public to buy goods and services in ever increasing amounts. Economists have estimated that consumer spending accounts for 70% of the U.S. economy.Go online and research social democracy, including some specific examples of how it works in various countries, and then consider the following discussion questions:ONLY NEED A SHORT 100-150 WORD ANSWER.

Prepare to write an essay of about three paragraphs on: Write an essay on the Hopi. Cover 2-3 dimensions (e.g., ritual, myth, doctrine, ethics, social life, etc.) in your discussion of Hopi religion. To conclude, make a few comparisons with Judaism. The two key factors in the essay are comprehensiveness and depth. For comprehensiveness, make sure the essay covers the basic requirements. Here three things are important: make sure to discuss 2-3 dimensions of religion, discuss 2-3 points in your discussion of a dimension, and make sure to fulfill the last sentence in the description (i.e., comparison with Judaism, description of Reform/Conservative Judaism, discussion on Protestants). For depth, do more than just use words of description (e.g., Shabbat, monotheism, premillennialism). Discuss the main points in your essay in a few sentences.

Hello! I’m going to add all the instructions provided. Overview:When you prepare to write an essay or a research paper about a society’s mythology, the place to start is to read its myths, or at least a few of them. The next step is to consider what experts have to say, and to take notes so that you don’t forget where you read a particular idea or comment, and so that you can go back to find out more information. As you are reviewing what these authorities are saying, you will probably find that these experts don’t see eye to eye on major issues such as the meaning of the myths, the influence of characters, or the interaction between a society and its myths. Holy mackerel! How the heck do you handle this mishmash? — An annotated bibliography! That is, a list of possible sources for your research paper, each with a couple of paragraphs in which you evaluate the source.Instructions:

The required elements relate to Course SLO 1 Describe the development of children from conception through adolescence in the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive domains and SLO 3 Apply knowledge of development and major theoretical frameworks to analyze child observations. And are aligned with the National Association for the Education of Young Children Professional Preparation StandardsSection 1: Observing and Analyzing Behaviors and InteractionsA. Physical Development (Key Element 1a) 6 pts: In a numbered list, describe the physical skills and abilities of the children observed for this report. Protect their identities. While you will need to ask the child’s age, do not include children’s real names in the observation. Analysis of two (2) children is required. Use the format as follows: Child #1: (then repeat the set of questions for Child #2)B. Cognitive Development (Key Element 1a) 6 pts: Observed behaviors will be analyzed in relation to Jean Piaget’s Sensorimotor stages. Connections will be explained by identifying a common characteristic of the stage. Make sure to pay attention to the general ages for each stage. Avoid assigning a stage that is typically identified with an infant either much older or younger than the infant you are observing. It is possible that children on the older end of the range might begin to demonstrate characteristics of Piaget’s Preoperational stage but those will not count for this observation. Focus your report on characteristics of the Sensorimotor stages. Analysis of two (2) children is required These can be the same two observed for the physical development section or they can be different children. You can observe them at separate times or together. Format as follows:Child #1 (then repeat list items 1-3 for Child #2)C. Language Development (12 pts) The purpose of this section is not only to identify language milestones but also to build your awareness of how caregiver responses influence children’s development. Analysis of two (2) child/adult pairs is required These can be the same children observed for any previous section or they can be different children and their caregivers. Pair #1 (then repeat the same items for Pair #2)B. Caregiver Influence on Language Development (Key Element 1b)D. Influences on Social and Emotional Development (Key Element 1b) 12 pts In this section, observed interactions will be analyzed in relation to Erik Erikson’s first two stages of psychosocial development. You will observe parents and caregivers interacting with their infants and/or toddlers. The purpose here is to identify the influence that parents and caregivers have on the social and emotional outcomes of children. You will describe 2 interactions between adult and child that could promote either trust or autonomy and a second 2 interactions between adult and child that could lead to mistrust or shame or doubt. That is a total of FOUR examples. Generally, before a child is walking their stage is likely trust vs. mistrust and once they start walking focus on autonomy vs shame and doubt. Use that guideline to identify your stages accurately in relation to the age of the child.Use the format below:Pair #1 (then repeat the same items for Pairs #2, 3 and 4)Make sure to include, in bold type, the name of Erickson’s stage in your explanation (Trust or Autonomy or Mistrust, or Shame/Doubt). If you find yourself writing about how the child feels… back up and redo. 1 page reply for this one In Western societies, parents typically scaffold their young children’s mastery of challenging tasks, communicating with the child in a way that resembles the teaching that occurs in school. But in cultures that place less emphasis on schooling and literacy, children may be expected to take greater responsibility for acquiring new skills through observation and participation in community activities. Why do you think is important to consider cultural influences when conducting research with human subjects?1 page reply for this one tooMy question crosses over with the readings from last week as well as this week. In the previous week’s readings, they focused on how allowing children to have access to television at an early age can effect their brain development. This week’s readings focused on the social, physical, emotional and cognitive development in early childhood. My question is, if a child is exposed to too much television, how much effect does that have on their developing brain? Is it possible for a child exposed to too much television to have a difficult time processing information other than what they see on television? How does this effect their ability to socialize with peers?3. 3.I need you to create a question (like u see question number 2). My teacher wants thoughtful question.

Chapter 14 – From the week’s chapter reading, we learn from the authors that, the use of mobile devices in our society today has indeed become ubiquitous. In addition, CTIA asserted that over 326 million mobile devices were in use within The United States as of December 2012 – an estimated growth of more than 100 percent penetration rate with users carrying more than one device with notable continues growth. From this research, it’s evident that mobile computing has vastly accelerated in popularity over the last decade due to several factors noted by the authors in our chapter reading. Q1: In consideration with this revelation, identify and name these factors, and provide a brief discussion about them?Answer (More than 10 lines ) Chapter 15 – According to Crocker and Smallwood, cloud computing represents one of the most significant paradigms shifts in information technology (IT) history, due to an extension of sharing an application-hosting provider that has been around for many years, and was common in highly regulated vertical industries like banks and health care institutions. The author’s knowledge from their research continue to assert that, the impetus behind cloud computing lies on the idea that it provides economies of scale by spreading costs across many client organizations and pooling computing resources while matching client computing needs to consumption in a flexible, real-time version. Q2: Even with this great news about the benefits of the cloud computing applications, the authors have warned the business user community regarding the dangers associated with cloud computing applications. Please identify and name these grave dangers/risks that pose as concerns, and briefly support your discussion.Answer ( More than 10 lines )

Research: Virtualization and Cloud Computing. Background: According to Sharda (2015), Physical corporate data centers are rapidly being replaced by virtual infrastructure called virtualization. Virtual infrastructure originally meant one in which software replaced hardware in a way that a “virtual machine” or a “virtual desktop system” was accessible to provide computing power. Typically, computing capabilities, storage, and networking are provided by a third party or a group of vendors, usually over the Internet or through a private network.Reference: Sharda, R., Delen, Dursun, Turban, E., Aronson, J. Present four general causal loop diagrams (CLDs), one each for the four phases of the spread of nonnative forest insects and pathogens: Absent, Localized, Spreading, and Pervasive (see Lovett et al. Fig 2). For each diagram depict the appropriate policy(ies) that would reduce impacts. Limit the number of elements to 10 for all four CLDs. Provide supporting background discussion of the diagram, the technical viability of the policy, and the costs implications. Draw from your readings and class discussion. As noted in the Homework 2 rubric, this essay must focus on one nonnative species. Policy in London and Paris.

READ THIS FIRST:The assignment is already done, but it needs to be fixed. Here is a list of what needs to be done, with priority:1. The essay currently uses the entire book by Geroge Orwell (Down and out in Paris and London), the essay is supposed to only use the first 60 pages of the book (around the first 10 chapters). Please replace everywhere where this is information and citations referring to parts of the book that are past the first 60 pages. Replace these parts with information and citations that are in the first 60 pages. It is very important that no information from the book is from more than the first 60 pages of the book (The first 10 chapters).2. There are lots of grammar. Proofread, and do your best to fix them (changing punctuation, fixing typos, rephrasing awkward sentences)Below you can find the initial instructions to the task. You may use this as reference when deciding what information is relevant:”I have a question and I need your help to answer this question in 10 pages Chicago style essay. the essay requirements : – The paper must be typed in 10 pages long – with a cover page – proper foot notes or end notes -12 point of font and should include a minimum of one page of bibliography including our class readings ( I’m gonna attach the text book ) and outside sources. – So sources are 1 from our textbook ( I’m gonna attach the chapter and notes for the book) and 5 additional sources other than our book, sources should be serious books and articles not Wikipedia or other similar websites, and list them properly on your reference page. ( And please Provide me with the links for the online sources ( journals, articles , books , etc) This is very very important Because I have to make sure that the sources are accurate and related to the paper). And please provide me with a rough draft before the due date, so We can make some changes if it’s possible. The question is :Compare and contrast the experiences of poverty (treatment of the poor and the disadvantaged) in Paris and London during the first half of the twentieth century (on the basis of the George Orwell’s book). How much progress have we made in this area since the introduction of the modern welfare state in France,Great Britain and or any other western countries? In addition to the book by Orwell, you can use our textbook readings to write this paper but please make sure to use at least five additional sources – journal articles and/or books and list them all properly on the reference page (bibliography).”

Aristotle and Plato based essay

Question: Is it still worthwhile to study ancient political philosophy today? Or, do you think that the classical texts (written by Socrates, Plato, Aristotle) are fun books to read but do not teach us invaluable lessons anymore? The essay should include:1) Your argument and supports2) The supports should include two or more examples from the readings/ books- Read the next paragraph- The examples should refer to both Plato’s and Aristotle’s texts.3) Six or more citations from the readings4) The length of the essay should be more than 700 wordsLet me give you an example. Title:(Argument) Classical texts are not even fun books to read and the lessons are anachronistic. We should not exaggerate the importance of classical texts and spend more time studying texts written by our contemporaries.(Example 1) For instance, Plato’s criticism of democracy is based on the belief that the average citizens are incapable to decide their best interest. (Quotes and explanations). I disagree with Plato because (your thoughts)(Example 2) Aristotle thinks that the purpose of establishing a state is to give the members the good life. (Quotes and explanations). But I think the state should not decide what is good for its people because (your thoughts).(Conclusion) Classical texts are anachronistic. Now you understand what 1) Your argument and support, 2) two (or more) examples, and 3) six (or more) citations mean. One thing to make sure, I do not judge your argument. I won’t feel offended or deduct points even if you say the ancient political thoughts are not worthwhile to study at all. What I evaluate is your support and the use of the readings.Instructions

Goal: Analyze a Venn Diagram to show the similarities, differences, and relationships

Goal: Analyze a Venn Diagram to show the similarities, differences, and relationships and argue its effectiveness. Understand how Venn diagrams are used in logic and/or problem solvingDirections:Why do we diagram arguments? For many, seeing helps connect ideas and concepts that can be complex and difficult to grasp. By understanding the elements and components visually we are better able to critically build and understand an argument. For this week’s forum, you will find one (1) Venn Diagram and do the following:- Find an interesting Venn Diagram on the internet. Google or Yahoo (or whatever you use) “Venn diagrams for deductive logic” OR “Venn diagrams for problem solving.” Find a video or example you like and understand and be sure to include a link to the video, website, problem or example.- Discuss what the Venn Diagram is trying to communicate.- Explain why the Venn Diagram is effective or not effective. – Discuss whether the Venn Diagram made solving the problem or understanding the relationships in a categorical argument easier.Forum Guidelines:must be 250 words in length. Trigger questions: What is the value of diagramming an argument? How can a Venn diagram help with critical thinking? What are the uses of truth tables? What are the differences in kinds of arguments? What are the differences in kinds of appeals? Why is understanding purpose and audienceso important in critical thinking? How can an outline help me? -Pick any topic-1 to 2 pages-MLA Format1) What does Socrates mean by living an examined life? Or
an unexamined life? Do you agree? What does living an examined life mean to you? Defend your position.2) Socrates says that it is unwise to fear death for two main reasons; one is ethical, the other epistemic. He claims that living a “good life” is more important than living a long life (the ethical objection) and that we don’t know what death is really like, so fearing it is “thinking you know when you do not know” (the epistemic objection). Do you agree or disagree with these objections? Pick ONE of these two objections and either critique or defend it.The Symposium1) Pick one of the speeches in praise of Love (Eros) from the dialogue, and either critique or defend it using concrete examples to make your case. You can also add your own contribution(s) to the speech if you think that it could be improved or altered to make it a stronger, more philosophically sound account of Eros (feel free to draw from the other speeches in the dialogue when you do this).2) Get creative and write your own speech in praise of (or in condemnation of) Love. Feel free to borrow elements from the speeches and class discussions that we’ve had on the topic, but be sure to make it your own and defend your position against possible objections.”The Allegory of the Cave”1) Although we did not read the actual “Allegory,” we discussed it extensively in class. It is a powerful metaphor with many layers. One element to the story involves the deception of the prisoners in the cave by puppet masters projecting shadows on the cave wall. Plato was most likely alluding to the politicians of his day with this metaphor, but who are the modern day “puppet masters”? The media, organized religion, public schooling, politicians, advertising? Pick a “puppet master,” and write an essay exploring, through examples, the way in which information, facts, and truth are presented to the general public in a deceptive manner–thereby distorting our view of reality. Don’t get carried away here with your assertions, though: use concrete evidence and examples to support your claims.

The outline for the Final paper is due next Monday, 10/7.Here is the outline in brief. A full explanation is below this. I will say this a thousand time: THIS IS NOT A REPORT! Aim to write in the first person and share you ideas throughout. Quotes should always be introduced by you, and followed by your comments and examples. Unless it is an inset longer quote, you should never have a paragraph of all quotes! So the outline should be about your ideas, not just the quotes you will use. Please also note Section Headers are in Bold, and subheadings are in italics. As always, this is too much to take in at once, so look at the specifics as you write.Intro and thesis: 3-4 sentences in your own voice of lead in to your opinion based this of what you think and why. For the outline/intro assignment you need to offer a full intro and thesis. Background: Offer one paragraph of what interests you personally on this topic. (For the outline you need only offer your topic sentence/first sentence for each heading and subheading.)My Experience Talk about your own experience with the topic, no quotes. Some Definitions You can quote some, but frame in your voice.Issues Share what you see as major issues. Include some quote.Analysis You may have 1 paragraph of introduction into your own points, but you may also just begin your points. (For the outline you need only offer your topic sentence/first sentence for our claims per point. You can mention who you will quote, and your example for the CER analysis paragraphs also.). Point one (choose your own name) Note: For the outline do include the bullet points for claim/quote/reasoning and example. For the draft and final paper you of course remove the bullet points. Only headers and subheadings should remain.Point Two (choose your own name) Point Three (choose your own name) Conclusion In your own voice, summarize your ideas and findings, then re-state the thesis in a new way. Don’t just repeat it. ( You might want to try a full conclusion now, but have at least the first sentence).Bibliography Include all source referenced for the paper, not just the ones quoted.I have attached references and also sample outine paper to help.

One place we absorb the myths of our culture, or the “shadows on the wall,” is at the movies. Popular culture is rife with stories about what matters, what makes life meaningful, and what it means to be a success in the world today. The term “motivated representations” was coined by prolific author, professor, feminist, and social activist, Gloria Jean Watkins (1952 – present), better known by her pen name bell hooks. In a world of motivated representations, critical thinking is a way to protect yourself from biased influences, by detecting ideological content in popular media. Topic: Info Tech in Global EconomyQuestion:Chapter 11 – From the chapter, we learned that the pattern of behavior arises from fundamental psychology and in particular, the following: a) our capacity for habitual behavior, b) the difference between intelligence as the manifestation of the coping mode of cognition and understanding as the manifestation of the pervasive optimization mode, and c) the phenomenon of authoritarianism as the need for external authority through a lack of understanding of one’s living environment. On the same line of thought, Andringa (2015), stated that the combination of these phenomena leads to a formal definition – the Bureaucratic Dynamic – and this is where the prevalence of coercive formalization scales with what the author terms as “institutional ignorance” – a measure of how well workers understand the consequences of their own actions both within the organization as well as the wider society…Q1: In conclusion, the author presents a view that most people may agree with – that “All human activities benefit from some form of formalization, and that formalization allows automating routine tasks, to agree on how to collaborate, determine when and how tasks should be executed, and when they are finished.” The author offers a key reason(s) why procedures should not be changed too often. What are those reasons? Provide a brief explanation.Instructions:

This week’s module is about better understanding the reader-users of the proposal

This week’s module is about better understanding the reader-users of the proposal you’re writing. Having a complete understanding of your reader-user’s needs, values, and expectations allows you to make rhetorical choices about how to move those readers to action. To help think about your readers, answer the following prompts for the Week 7 Discussion initial contribution:1. Describe your intended reader-users–who are these readers?2. Describe your intended audience in terms of the organization they work for and their position or title.3. Describe your intended audience in terms of their occupation, profession, or field.4. Describe your intended audience in terms of their needs for or interest in the information you plan to include in this writing project.5. Describe how your intended audience will use the information you include in this writing project.6. Describe the technical background of your intended audience–what do they know and not know about your topic? what are their technical limitations in relation to this writing project? What do your responses about these reader-users initial reveal to you?

Listen to the Mere Rhetoric Podcast “Audience Invoked, Audience Addressed,” and respond

Listen to the Mere Rhetoric Podcast “Audience Invoked, Audience Addressed,” and respond to the following prompt:First, list and discuss 3-5 takeaways you have from this podcast episode. Then, consider how this episode has you (re)thinking the audience of your proposal.

Once you’ve begun to settle on a direction for the proposal project,

Once you’ve begun to settle on a direction for the proposal project, the next step is to consider the reader-users implicated in this project. Complete the following chart considering the needs, values, and expectations of the primary, secondary, and tertiary reader-users of your project. In short, the primary reader-users are the action takers; they are the ones who will make the decisions regarding what you propose. The secondary reader-users are the advisors; they help the primary reader-users make decisions. Lastly, the tertiary reader-users are the evaluators. As you complete the chart, identify the specific reader groups. In some cases, a reader group may be one person; the primary reader might be a manager at your company, for example. The more specific you can identify the reader groups, the more specifically you can identity (and later address) their needs, values, and expectations.Keep in mind an audience of “everybody” is an audience of “nobody.”

D1: Reflect on the theories 200 words total

This discussion will require you to have carefully read Chapter 4 of the textbook, as well as the assigned portions of Immanuel Kant’s (2008) Groundwork for the Metaphysics of Morals.Kant’s text and the textbook discuss two “formulations” or ways of expressing Kant’s Categorical Imperative, the “Formula of Universal Law” and the “Formula of Humanity.” For each formula, Kant considers four test cases to explain ho
w it applies: Suicide, False Promises, Cultivating One’s Talents, and Beneficence.1. Engage with the text:Choose one of these test cases (it can be from either formula), and explain in your own words the reasoning that leads to the conclusion Kant defends. You should first explain the Categorical Imperative itself, focusing on the particular formula you are considering, and then carefully show how that principle leads to a particular conclusion.2. Reflect on the theories:Would a utilitarian come to a different conclusion? If so, explain why. If a utilitarian would come to the same conclusion in this case, could there be a variation in the case that would lead the utilitarian and Kant to come to different conclusions?3. Reflect on yourself:Do you agree with Kant’s conclusion? If not, explain the flaws in his reasoning. If you do agree, and you think a utilitarian would come to a different conclusion in this or a slightly varied case, why do you think that Kant’s reasoning is superior to the utilitarian’s? (You may want to consult section 4.3, “Challenges to Kant’s Theory” for help with this section). Post must be minimum 200 words.

D2: Morally Permissible to lie to someone 200 words total

Discussion Topic: Is it ever morally permissible to lie to someone? 1) Describe a circumstance in which it seems that lying might make more people happy than telling the truth. Would lying be the right thing to do in that circumstance, or is it our moral duty to tell the truth, even then? 2) Consider what Immanuel Kant would say, (see attached ethics book) and explain that with reference to this week’s readings. Then, offer your own perspective. If you agree with Kant, consider and respond to an objection to his view. 3) If you disagree with Kant, explain why. Discuss the positive and negative aspects of deontological theory as it relates to another of the theories you have encountered in this course. Your post must be 200 words minimum

D1: Virtue

Discussion 1: Virtue and TeleologyPlease carefully read and think about the entire prompt before composing your post. This discussion will require you to have carefully read Chapter 5 of the textbook, as well as the assigned portions of Aristotle’s (1931) Nicomachean Ethics. (see attached ethics textbook)Aristotle’s account of ethics is “teleological”, which means that our understanding of virtue and living well is based on a sense of the “telos” (function, purpose, or end) of something (see Aristotle’s text and the textbook for the full account).1. Engage with the text:Using at least one quote from the required text(s), explain the relation between virtue and living well on Aristotle’s account, and briefly describe some of the key characteristics of the virtues.2. Reflect on yourself:Identify an area of your life in which virtues are needed to do well. Explain what the “telos” of that role or activity is, what virtues are needed and why they are needed, and what would be lost if someone tried to be successful in that activity who didn’t exercise the virtues. This might be a role you have, a vocation or career, a hobby, or something common to all of us.3. Reflect on virtue:In what ways do the virtues you identify display the characteristics Aristotle describes? For instance, you could explain whether they occupy an intermediate between too much and too little of some quality, how they would affect one’s emotions as well as ones actions, etc.References Aristotle. D2: Is it possible for individuals to flourish if others with whom they are connected are not also flourishing? 200 words total

Discussion Topic: Is it possible for individuals to flourish if others with whom they are connected are not also flourishing? Consider this with respect to Aristotle’s account of Eudaimonia and MacIntyre’s account of practices, as well as the other readings and media. Identify a community or practice in which you are involved in which the flourishing of the individual is tied to the flourishing of others. Does this require that we limit certain rights pertaining to the individual (for instance, the right to free speech or to pursue monetary gain), in order to promote the flourishing of the group within that context? Be specific, and use examples when appropriate.

GUIDELINE:Tip 1. Contextualize the case. There is a method to my madness. Cases generally correspond to a particular set of concepts and theories. Keep this in mind as you prepare your analysis. Tip 2. Read the case actively. The goal is not for you to grab your highlighter and speed through the case. Instead, ask yourself questions, wrestle with the core decisions, and think through multiple scenarios. Tip 3 . William Ellet argues that there are “four types of situations” that you will often see in cases, for each here are some tips: – Problems o Define the problem in the case. This may not be obvious. o Then, be able to diagnosis the problem using the various tools you’ve acquired throughout your business training. – Decisions o Identify the decision options. o Determine the criteria by which to evaluate the decision options. o Accumulate as much evidence as possible to support your decision. – Evaluations o Again, determine the appropriate evaluative criteria. o Make the evaluation that is most consistent with the evidence provided by the case and the key criteria. o Be sure to be holistic in your evaluations – think about positive and negative aspects. – Rules (This is particularly critical for quantitative analyses) o Know the information you need to apply a rule (For example, what data is necessary for a break-even or NPV analysis) o Know how to obtain this information. o Know how to apply the rule. o Make sure your data is accurate. Tools Ellet provides a nice model for analyzing cases. There are five key phases of the process. 1. Situation a. Figure out the big picture first; ask yourself, “What is the situation in the case? What is going on here? 2. Questions a. Develop questions about the problem, namely: i. What do you need to know about the situation? b. Think through issues related to the decision, namely: i. What are the decision options? Any seem particularly strong or weak? What is at stake here? What are the key criteria to base your decision? c. Questions about the evaluation, in particular: i. Who or what is being evaluated? Who is responsible for the evaluation? 3. Hypothesis a. Here is where your analytical work gains momentum. Develop your perspective on the case. b. Review the aforementioned questions – now begin to develop your answers for each set of questions. 4. Proof and Action a. Ask yourself, what evidence is provided by the case that supports my hypothesis? What additional evidence do I need to collect? b. Equally important for our course, also consider how would I implement my recommendations? 5. Alternatives a. Spend some time critiquing yourself, ask the following: i. How else could this problem be defined? If defined differently, would I have the same hypothesis? ii. Where are the weak links in my analysis? iii. What is the potential downside to my recommended decision? What is the strongest counterevidence? iv. How thorough have I been in my analysis? How might a different course of action be proved? ——————————————————————————————————————————————————————–COMPETITOR ANALYSIS PERSPECTIVE QUESTIONS TO BE ANSWERED: 1. Why, historically, has the soft drink industry been so profitable?2. Compare the economics of the concentrate business to that of the bottling business? Why is the profitability so different?3. How has the competition between Coke and Pepsi affected the industry’s profits?4. How can Coke and Pepsi sustain their profits in the wake of flattening demand and the growing popularity of non-CSDs?

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THE ASSIGNMENT WILL BE SUBMITTED THROUGH TURNITIN, THEREFORE IT CANNOT BE PLAGIARIZED!!Dear Students,This is your first Life Skills Assignment. Life Skills Assignments are worth a combined 20% of your Final Grades.Fertilife is an American company doing business in the United States and Canada. They specialize in creating fertilizers that make plants grow faster and bigger than usual. Given the laws protecting the environment and citizens in the U.S. and Canada, the company is limited as to how inventive it can get with the process for creating the fertilizers. Given this situation, the company wants to expand its business into a country that has fewer regulations. They discover that there is currently a fertilizer plant in Mexico that is struggling financially. Fertilife representatives travel to Mexico and make a deal with the current owner of the plant. In that deal, the owner will be paid a modest sum for the plant, its current supplies and methods, but he asks that as part of the deal the company retain all of the current employees in their current positions and with their current benefits. Retaining the employees is not part of the written contract, but the company’s agents assure the owner that their word is sufficient. The owner agrees to the contract, and receives his modest payment. For the first month the plant remains the same. However, Fertilife decided to bring some of its employees from the United States and Canada to do the managerial work. They demoted all of the Mexican employees in the managerial positions and put them to work with the rest of the employees. They also decided to make a few cut backs in what the lower-ranked employees would receive. For instance, the previous owner cared about all of his workers and provided drinks and ice for them to enjoy during their hard day of working at the plant. Fertilife decided they could no longer afford these luxuries. They also began a program where the lower-ranked Mexican employees would have to sleep in the plant in tiny quarters from Monday to Saturday and could only go back home on Sunday mornings and come back on Sunday nights. The food the lower-ranked Mexican employees were given was subpar, and their sleeping quarters were very small and damp. The American and Canadian employees, on the other hand, had many paid benefits, were allowed to travel home on a regular basis, and had a huge mansion where they got to sleep and were provided with the best food available. Additionally, the regulations in Mexico regarding waste disposal are very low in comparison to those of the United States and Canada. Fertilife is complying with the minimum requirements under Mexican law by throwing the substances into the river found behind the plant and running into a nearby town (which is much cheaper than other alternatives); however, the chemicals are killing the wild life inside the river, and the people in the nearby town (who have always used the river as their main water source) are getting massively sick after drinking the water from the river. You are an employee of Fertilife and the company public relations department asks you to conduct research and to write a report for the company addressing the following issues: (a) what are the ethical implications of the company
’s behavior in regards to the employees, (b) using the philosophical perspectives that you have found through your research and/or learned in this course, describe whether what the company is doing in regards to the employees is permissible and/or right, or whether it must and/or should change its behavior, (c) what are the ethical implications of the company’s behavior in regards to the waste disposal, (d) using such theoretical perspectives describe whether what the company is doing in regards to the waste disposal is permissible and/or right, or whether it must and/or should change its behavior, (e) make sure to discuss the economic/financial motivations, environmental considerations, health, emotional and moral considerations that the company must take into account for both topics (treatment of employees and waste disposal). In addition, in order to receive full credit for this assignment, you must make sure to include in your discussions the philosophical positions covered during the course that apply to this case.

As a steel producer from the United States, how do you feel about the dynamics described in the case? If you were a steelworker in the United States, what would be at the front of your mind?QUESTION 2: Why would Chinese steel companies be willing to sell their product at a loss? Though it has created a negative response from the U.S. Commerce Department, discuss the possible reasons that this strategy might be pursued. In the 15 years up to 2015, China increased its steel production fivefold as it forged the steel products demanded by its huge boom in construction and infrastructure spending. By 2015, the country produced 800 million tons of steel a year, half of the world’s annual output. However, in 2015 the bottom fell out of the Chinese domestic market for steel. The economy slowed down, and the government shifted its priorities away from massive infrastructure investments and toward boosting consumer spending. By the end of 2015, Chinese steelmakers were estimated to be producing 300 million more tons of steel a year than required for domestic consumption. With prices for steel slumping, China’s largest 101 steel firms lost over $12 billion in 2015, roughly twice what they made in profits during 2014. Not surprisingly, the Chinese are seeking to export this unwanted product, even if it is at a loss. China exported more than 100 million tons of steel for the first time in 2015, making its steel exports alone larger than the production of any other country in the world except for Japan. The prices for Chinese steel products appear to be at least 10 percent lower outside of China than within the country. Those low-priced exports are having a devastating impact on steelmakers around the globe. American producers have responded by clamoring for action from the U.S. Commerce Department to stop what they perceive to be the illegal dumping of steel products below the costs of production. Moreover, they have argued that cheap steel from China has also persuaded producers in India, Italy, South Korea, and Taiwan to dump their excess production on the world market, further harming U.S. producers. In November 2015, the Commerce Department ruled that all of these countries except Taiwan were dumping steel and placed duties as high as 236 percent on some imports of foreign steel. In late December, the Commerce Department ruled that China was also selling corrosion-resistant steel at unfairly low prices and placed an additional 256 percent tariff on such imports. This erected a huge barrier to certain Chinese steel imports into the United States. The European Union has been contemplating similar steps. The United Kingdom has been particularly hard hit by Chinese imports. Chinese imports now take 45 percent of the UK market for steel rebar, up from nothing in 2010. Overall, steel imports from China doubled between 2014 and 2015. The UK lost some 4,000 steelmaking jobs in the second half of 2015 as the Chinese grabbed market share. Elsewhere in Europe, the Luxembourg-based steel giant ArcelorMittal blamed dumping by Chinese firms for a $8 billion loss in 2015. In response, in January 2016, the EU placed a 13 percent tariff on imports of Chinese steel. EU steelmakers called this totally inadequate, particularly given the much large tariffs levied in the United States. For its part, the Chinese government remained unmoved. In fact, it may have added fuel to the fire in December 2015, when it cut export taxes on several types of steel, signaling perhaps that it was doubling down on a strategy to encourage domestic producers to export their surplus production rath
er than close mills.Closing Case: Sugar Subsidies Drive Candy Makers AbroadQUESTION 1: Reflect on the U.S. policy on sugar. As a producer, how do you feel about the policy? Does your opinion change if you are a candy manufacturer? What is your perspective as a consumer of candy and other products containing sugar? As a displaced worker in Ohio, how do you feel about the policy? Should a government protect a few at the expense of many? Is the policy fair?QUESTION 2: Why do you think the policy on sugar in the United States is so heavily slanted towards sugar producers at the expense of candy manufacturers and consumers? What can manufacturers do? What does your response tell you about the benefits of free trade?Back in the 1930s at the height of the Great Depression, the U.S. government stepped in to support the U.S. sugar industry with a combination of subsidies, price supports, import quotas, and tariffs. These actions were meant to be temporary, but as of 2015 they are still in place. Under policies approved in the 2008 farm bill, the government guarantees 85 percent of the market for U.S. producers, primarily farmers growing sugar beets and cane. The remaining 15 percent is allocated for imports from certain countries at a preferential tariff rate. The government also sets a floor price for sugar. If the price falls below the floor, the government steps in to purchase excess supply, driving the price back up again. The surplus is then sold at a loss to producers of ethanol. A significant U.S. sugar harvest in 2013 required the government to spend some $300 million to prop up U.S. sugar prices. As a result of these policies, between 2010 and 2013, the U.S. sugar price has averaged between 64 and 92 percent higher than the world price of sugar.American sugar producers say that the federal programs are necessary to keep big sugar-producing countries such as Brazil, India, and Thailand from flooding the U.S. market and driving them out of business. Opponents of the practice include numerous small candy producers. Many of them complain about the high U.S. price for sugar. Increasingly, they have responded by moving production offshore. For example, the Spangler Candy Company, the maker of Dum Dums, has moved 200 jobs from Ohio to Juarez, Mexico, where it makes candy canes that are then imported back into the United States. Similarly, Adams

Scenario: You own a fairly successful eatery and microbrewery with cafe tables that seat 1,000 customers at any one time and serve several types of ethnic food in a large barn-like space in Chicago, Illinois. The restaurant has 15,000 square feet with 25-foot ceilings. After several years in business, and increasing competition, you have decided that you are really in the entertainment business. Besides food offerings, you decide you will create a large games venue with a small stage for live entertainment. Since you can put in a second floor above the restaurant area you will not have to worry about purchasing extra land. You currently have 60 employees which includes four (4) managers that work either day or evening shifts 7 days a week. You determine only another 20 employees will need to be hired to service the games area of the venue where drinks will also be served. The bank to which you are applying for an expansion loan wants to see how you will plan for this major change and how you will execute this plan successfully to justify the loan. Provide a convincing introductory memo (i.e. cover memo) to the banking officer that will summarize your basic change management plan that will convince the officer to approve the loan. You may consult the Writing Center regarding writing persuasive memos through Academic Tools.Respond to the checklist items below in an essay consisting of 4–6 pages in length with an additional title and references page in APA format and citation style and a memo that will summarize your plan and persuade the loan officers.Checklist: Access the rubricSubmit your (1) persuasive memo and (2) the 4–6-page paper with additional references page in APA format and citation style to the Unit 5 Assignment Dropbox.

Please number your responses to align with the questions below. Thank you.Remember these responses are to be in-depth, showing a comprehensive understanding of the material. To use one to three sentences to respond typically will not be adequate.1. Review section 5.2a Organizational Mission. Reflect on the examples provided in the book and then find a mission statement from a company’s website. Provide the name of the company and its mission statement. Then tell the reader how the mission statement communicates the company’s purpose, values, and/or aspirations and what you think those are based on the mission statement (not what you know based on experience.)2. Section 5.9b explains SWOT analysis. Explain (in your own words) a SWOT analysis and why an organization needs to use the tool. If the results show a company’s workforce is under-skilled, what might a company do? Provide several options as if you were a high-paid consultant.3. Section 5.10 discusses the BCG Matrix. It seems pretty basic, but it is rather involved. How are cows developed and why are they important to creating questions marks and starts? Why might I decided to keep a question mark versus divest of it? Reference the X and Y axes when answering these questions.4. In Section 5.11, Formulating Business-Level Strategy, the authors introduce Michael Porter’s Competitive Strategies. Porter describes differentiation and cost strategies. Let’s look at In-n-Out and its strategy. Please read this section of the chapter and the information in Exhibit 5.10 as well as the In-n-Out case included in the CPA file.Question: In-n-Out’s strategy is not low cost because of the prices for its items. Describe in detail (use examples of other establishments) how it differentiates itself from other fast food establishments and why its customers find “value” in this offering (see “deliver value” in section 5.9a Purpose of a Strategy.) This is one of those times you may be uncomfortable with the concept so read carefully and do your best at trying to answer the question.Attachments are In-n-Out case and all the sections included in the question.DO NOT ANSWER THE QUESTIONS IN THE CASE.

Write a justification and Implementation plan for a systemAs the business analyst in the CIO’s department of Maryland Technology Consulting (MTC), your next task in working towards an IT solution to improve the hiring process at MTC is to write a justification and implementation plan for a system that the CIO has decided will meet MTC’s needs. The system, EZ-ATS, is described in the vendor brochure provided with this assignment. The vendor, UMUC Hiring Solutions, Inc., and EZ-ATS are fictitious names created for use with this case study but based on real-world SaaS application information. In this Stage 4 assignment, you will explain how the selected system meets MTC’s requirements, and what needs to be done to implement the system within MTC.Section IV of the Business Analysis and System Recommendation Report will explain how the selected system helps MTC achieve its strategy, improve its hiring process, and meet its system requirements, and you will explain how each implementation area might be addressed to help ensure a successful implementation of the technology solution.Using the case study, assignment instructions, vendor brochure, Course readings (in particular, Implementing a SaaS Solution and Developing a System Proposal)and external research, develop your Section IV. System Recommendation. Approximate lengths f
or each section are provided as a guideline; be sure to provide all pertinent information.IV. System RecommendationA. System JustificationProvided with the Stage 4 Assignment Instructions is a brochure that describes an IT solution that the CIO has selected, with the HR Director’s endorsement, to meet the needs of improving MTC’s hiring process. In Stage 1, you analyzed the strategy and objectives for MTC and how a technology solution to improve the hiring process would contribute. In Stage 2, you analyzed how to improve the hiring process with a technology solution, and in Stage 3 you identified specific requirements. After reviewing the EZ-ATS Brochure, briefly describe the selected solution. Then, describe how that selected solution aligns with achieving the strategy, improves the process, and meets the requirements. Write two to three clear, concise, well-organized paragraphs to summarize this assessment. Don’t just repeat information from previous stages but synthesize this information and provide strong information and justification to explain why this proposed solution is a good fit for MTC. Remember you are writing a report to your boss, the CIO of MTC, that he can use to convince the leadership team why this is the best solution based on your analysis.B. Implementation AreasTo successfully implement this technology solution, MTC will need to develop an Implementation Plan and below is a list of key implementation areas that should be included. First, provide a brief introduction to this section – what it contains and why an Implementation Plan is so important for MTC. Then address each of the seven (7) areas below to explain what MTC needs to do (with support by the vendor). Below the numbered heading, write one to two paragraphs to address the area. The sub-areas (a,b,c, etc.) contain questions and areas to help guide your thinking about what should be covered and should be incorporated within your response to the major category. For an explanation of the implementation areas, refer to the Week 7 Reading “Implementing a SaaS Solution”. The vendor brochure provides information for some of these areas, but you need to include what MTC must doas well. Remember you are writing this section to help MTC plan for a successful implementation. It is not sufficient to just indicate “Vendor provides”or “employees need to be trained.” In addition to incorporating course content, external research on implementation areas will strengthen your understanding and explanation. The goal for this section is to help MTC know what needs to happen in each area to help support a successful implementation of EZ-ATS.(Note:A free trial period does not suffice as software testing)Summary and Conclusion: Close your Business Analysis and System Recommendation Report with a summary of the key points including the benefits MTC can expect to gain from this solution and the alignment with strategic objectives. (One well-written paragraph).Don’t just repeat information presented earlier but put it in context of a conclusion to provide a strong finish to this report. Just as your introduction informed your reader about why you’re writing and what’s to come, the conclusion should provide a clear and concise final paragraph to reinforce/emphasize key points and a compelling argument for the chosen solution – and it should urge the reader to take action.

Please respond to the following: The discussion questions given please produce 200 words about each numbered question. please place answers under each bullet point. In Addition a response must be given back (100 words) to the other students Kemba Carroll and Tiara Davis and Shawn ANDERSON for both responses.1) Debate It – Take a position on this statement: Media cause individuals to develop negative and unrealistic body images. Support your views with two or three reasons and/or examples. (Cite any sources you referenced.) 2) Is product placement as popular in new media as it has been in traditional television and film content? Do you think over time audiences become anaesthetized to this type of advertising? Support your views with two or three reasons and/or examples. (Cite any sources you referenced.)Kemba Carroll RE DiscussionDebate It – Take a position on this statement: Media cause individuals to develop negative and unrealistic body images. Support your views with two or three reasons and/or examplesI strongly agree that the media can cause individuals to develop negative and unrealistic body images. There are positively some immediate messages related with body weight in the media; celebrities, design models and show hosts are frequently observed as good examples, particularly by young people. They seem to show what it is to be fruitful and famous. Their body weight, appearance and beauty are frequently connected with their ubiquity and riches. This is especially evident in what is alluded to as “thin-idea” media, an idea which has been taken a gander at with enthusiasm by scientists in the field of social psychology(2). The expression “flimsy perfect media ” alludes to media pictures, shows and movies that contain extremely meager female leads. This is something that surfaces a ton in style magazines, attire lists and popular culture network shows. Slight perfect media features that slenderness is a decent and alluring thing to be, regardless of whether it is to a level that is possibly harming to a person’s health.“Studies show that people with low self-esteem spend the most time on social media. It was also found that social media causes people to have lower self-esteem. That means that people already suffering from low self-esteem are indulging in an activity that causes lower self-esteem. It’s a vicious cycle.”https://www.betterhelp.com/advice/self-esteem/the-media-and-body-image-how-it-impacts-your-self-esteem/Tiara Davis Debate It – Take a position on this statement: Media cause individuals to develop negative and unrealistic body images. Support your views with two or three reasons and/or examplesHello Class and Professor Mims, for this week’s discussion, I’ve chosen to agree with the above statement. The media does cause individuals to have unrealistic body images. I believe this for so many reasons. My first reason is women who are expecting or have just given birth began applying pressure on their bodies right away to “SnapBack”, as they say in this generation. To me, I don’t believe in working out while you’re expecting because you’re taking your body way past it’s limit even if your doctor has approved of it. I believe it could cause possible complications, or the umbilical cord may wrap around the fetus’s neck, causing death. Also, after having given birth, any person in their right state of mind would want to just simply bong with their little bundle of joy instead of performing massive workout routines.Another example would be celebrities who have obviously undergone surgery to remove certain body fat in certain they may not want it and transfer it to another part of their body (such as their buttocks). They then will promote certain brands like Flat Tummy Tea and say that the reason they’re stomachs are flat is because of the product they’re branding on social media, when in reality it isn’t true at all. It’s all hysterical to me! Everyone today wants an hourglass figure, even if it isn’t real. They’d rather have fake breasts and a silicone butt to fit in, but it isn’t worth it.- Tiara D.Shawn ANDERSON RE: DiscussionIs product placement as popular in new media as it has been in traditional television and film content? Do you think over time audiences become anaesthetized to this type of advertising? Support your views with two or three reasons and/or examples. (Cite any sources you referenced.)I think product placement is a marketing technique that is being used in this generation where references to specific brands or products are also being incorporated into another work especially in major films and television programs with the intent of promotion. It has also become popular in new media compared to the way it was in the traditonal television where certain products were only advertised for some minutes in television and film content. In the new media, many companies have engaged in advertising their products in various TV series which have many audiences and followers. Product placement is closely related to celebrity endorsement and even influencer marketing. Product placement in movies is a huge and profitable industry these times. In the U.S. alone product placement is reaching nearly $11,44 billion since this year. Apart from being a huge business product placement is effective too by contributing to its profitability. In reading and researching more than half Americans trust the silent advice celebrities give them from the screen. Nearly 49% of Americans go further and buy what they spot in movies as well. There are Pros and Cons to product placement to where they are good for advertising and not good.Pros: Good Assocation, Undivided Attention, Advance Targeting, Improved Efficiency, Top-tier Influencer MarketingCons: High Cost, Uncertain Deadlines, Too much is at stake, Limited Control overproductionhttps://stopad.io/blog/product-placement-marketingDo you think over time audiences become anaesthetized to this type of advertising?I don’t think they will become anaesthetized over time because Ads are becoming more dynamic and personalized and also Advertising channels are becoming automatically integrated.

with the discussion question based on a draft answer submitted

Base the discussion answer off the attachment that was turned in last week. It is a draft of my actual assignment that will be due. Please respond in 4 paragraphs to the following discussion question. . D0701 – Challenges to Formalizing, Adopting and Implementing the Strategic PlanStep 1: Reflect on the array of factors that must be addressed to formalize and adopt your strategic plan, and to successfully implement it.Step 2: Based on your own perception and experience, the views of your textbook authors, and results reported in the literature, what aspects appear the most challenging?Step 3: What are your thoughts about how to best meet these challenges?Previous assignment that was answered.Deliverable #2 – Strategic Goal and Set of Smart ObjectivesEstablish a strategic goal and several SMART objectives for each key strategy formulated above1. The goal will, of course, pertain directly to the strategy. Each SMART objective will, by itself, or combined with other related objectives establish the basis for a specific initiative, project or program to achieve the objective(s). In turn, each initiative, project or program will have its own goal and specific objectives. [Refer to the Vision to Projects Schematic].IMPORTANT POINT: My intent is to provide an understanding of the “cascading” nature of strategic planning. Innovative strategic thinking leads to big ideas and significant strategy opportunities for major improvement. However, these ideas and strategies need to be effectively implemented within the organization to realize their potential. This requires strategic planning – systematic, logical, organized, sequential activities that fit with the organization’s history, readiness, culture and capacity for change2.1 You will find it helpful to review the YouTube video “How to Set SMART Goals” by Erica Olsen (located in the Module 6 Videos with the Course Materials).2 Read the two articles on strategic thinking/strategic planning in Cluster 1 within the Course Material.Deliverable #3 – Potential Initiatives, Projects and ProgramsIdentify plausible initiatives, projects and programs that emanate from and support the organizational strategies and related strategic goals and objectives.Note: For our purposes, I am using the following definitions – An initiative is a large, often complex, “umbrella-type” undertaking that encompasses several projects. A project is a work effort to achieve a specific desired result that is time-limited, budgeted and resource constrained. A program is a continuous offering that provides on-going services or goods in support of the organization’s mission and vision. Apply one or more methodologies such as the “Initiatives-Projects Prioritization Matrix” and the “Impact-Alignment Matrix” to rate, prioritize, select and sequence the projects and programs your group feels should implemented.

E3-8. The concept of materialityAll large U.S. companies have policies in which all expenditures under a certain dollar amount are expensed. Many of these expenditures are for assets, items that are useful to the company beyond the period in which they were purchased.P3-3. The irrelevance of original costThree years ago Yeagley and Sons purchased the three assets listed in the following table. The chief financial officer, Kathy Dillon, is presently trying to decide what to do with each asset. She has three choices for each asset: (1) sell it, (2) sell it and replace it with an equivalent asset, or (3) keep it. The following information is provided to aid her decision.AssetOriginal CostReplacement CostFair Market ValuePresent Value of Future Cash Flows Produced by Old AssetPresent Value of Future Cash Flows of Equivalent AssetA$4,000$1,000$1,500$2,500$5,000B 1,500 2,000   500 2,500 3,500C 2,000 3,500 3,000 2,500 5,000REQUIRED: ID3-2 Aggressive revenue recognition in the Internet industryMany Internet firms “gross up” their revenues by reporting the entire sales price a customer pays at their site, when in fact the company keeps only a small percentage of that amount. Take The Priceline Group, Inc., for example, the company made famous by those William Shatner ads about “naming your own price” for airline tickets and hotel rooms. In SEC filings for the year ended 2014, Priceline reported that it earned over $2.1 billion in merchant revenues, but that included the full amount customers paid for tickets, hotel rooms, and rental cars. Traditional travel agencies call that amount “gross bookings,” not revenues. And much like traditional travel agencies, Priceline keeps only a small portion of the “gross bookings,” namely, the difference between the customers’ accepted bids and the price it pays for the merchandise or service. The rest, which Priceline calls “cost of revenues,” are paid to the airlines and hotels that supply the tickets and rooms. In 2014, those costs came to $858 million, leaving Priceline just $1.3 billion.REQUIRED
